THREE children who built a den on the roof of the Tavistock Job Centre came peacefully down when requested by police and fire officers.

Police received a report last Thursday of children on the building's roof, but were unable to reach them. The Bere Alston fire crew were covering in Tavistock for the town's crew, who were on a training exercise with Princetown brigade, and were asked to assist by police.

Sub officer Colin Shaw said the children — who were around 13-years-old — came down peacefully and promised not to repeat the escapade.
