The clubs are including two new venues outside Tavistock for the truly magical Night Glow Spectaculars, where tethered hot air balloons have their envelopes inflated, with the pilots then lighting their burners in time to classical music, giving the appearance of giant light bulbs being switched on and off.
These new events have been organised in conjunction with the National Trust and Aerosaurus Balloons of Exeter and will take place at Killerton House near Exeter on Thursday August 22 and at Saltram House in Plymouth the following day.
Both will open around 7pm with entertainment for all the family including live jazz music.
The Night Glows will start around 9pm and generally last for about half an hour — and as this will be the first time that these historic houses have been used as a backdrop for such spectaculars, the organisers are expecting a high response from the public.
On the bank holiday weekend August 24 and 25, the main Fiesta will take place at its normal home of Tavistock College, with the first balloon flights expected at around 6.30am on the Saturday morning.
The gates then open for the start of the main event at 3.30pm with the Day at the Races pantomime horse racing commencing at 4pm.
There will be many other attractions and side-shows and this year.
Five special shaped balloons from the Balloon Preservation Group will be at the College to be inflated and tethered during the afternoon.
The Sussex-based Group has a large collection of retired corporate and sponsored balloons that are no longer flight worthy but that can still be inflated for display purposes.
Balloons at the Fiesta will include the FT rolled newspaper, Sonic the Hedgehog and the National Power pylon, one of the tallest balloons in the country.
The main balloon ascent, for which nearly 40 balloons have registered, will start around 6.30pm followed by a balloon glow around 9pm.
Sunday's programme will be similar, with the inclusion of the Far West Region Tug-of War championships, which have been staged at the Fiesta for the previous two years.
A special shape balloon making its popular return to Tavistock will be Bertie Basset, which at nearly 50m high is one of the world's tallest balloons and which created such a sensation when it was last flew around Tavistock in 1998.
This is the tenth year that the Westcountry Balloon Fiesta has been staged (last year's was cancelled due to Foot and Mouth) and the Clubs are delighted to welcome H & L Maintenance and Manufacturing Ltd, a Plymouth based company specialising in UPVC doors and windows, as their main sponsor.
As usual, the profits from the Fiesta will be donated to charity and amongst those selected for this year is Children's Hospice South West based at Barnstaple.
Details of the event can be found by visiting http://www.westcountryballoons.com">www.westcountryballoons.com
In another departure from previous years, entry to the event will be free, but with a car parking charge of £5 per car.
