Bideford III 3
THE combination of North Tawton II and Okehampton III continued to gain momentum with this resounding victory over an experienced Bideford side.
It also gave Okehampton and North Tawton the opportunity to try out as many new players as possible ? there were some impressive debuts.
It was Bideford?s experienced side that took a well struck penalty to put the visitors 3-0 up.
From a lineout break down No 4, Alfie May, showed an impressive turn of speed to score under the post for outside half Joe Fewings to convert on the stroke of half time, giving the home side a 7-3 lead at the break.
It was a different story in the second half when Bideford?s older side began to tire. And it was straight from the kick off that the forwards set up a good platform in the scrum to set up centre Zak Matravers, in impressive form, to run through the gap to score a try, converted by Joe Fewings.
Loose ball saw May pounce and score a similar try to his first, converted by Fewings.
Sion Roke then came on for the experienced Perry Vallance as full back.
Good breaks by Martin Frigins and Fewings saw the ball set up for No 8, Adam Hooper, to score; again Fewings converted. Further tries by Hooper and prop Richard Gould saw the visitors on the ropes. Matravers finished off this game with two tries. These were converted by Roke at full back.
North Tawton 1st are home to Tiverton II, while North Oakes are playing Exmouth III at Okehampton, kick-offs 3pm.
