A GRATEFUL mother is appealing for her mystery ?angel? to step forward and reveal himself after his quick thinking actions at a petrol station possibly saved the life of her son. Jacci Jourdan, of South Zeal, had left her son, Kelly College pupil Hector, aged 14, and her daughter Phoebe, 9, sitting in the car on Friday, October 12, to go and pay for her petrol at the Sourton Cross Shell Garage near the A30. While inside the kiosk she heard shouting from around her car and went out to find Hector staggering around, trying to breathe and her daughter in distress. She told the Times: ?I thought Hector was trying to be sick as he was coughing, but he was choking. ?Within seconds this man came from nowhere and performed the Heimlich Manoeuvre on him and he spat out a sweet, which was stuck in his throat.? Jacci, 42, said both she and her family are very grateful to their unassuming, mystery hero, who she hoped could be traced through the Times, so that they could thank him personally. The man, who was filling up his white van at the next petrol pump around 5.20pm, had dark hair and she believed he was in his late 30s or early 40s. He also had a younger man in his 20s with him in the van. Jacci added: ?If I realised what was happening to Hector, having done my first aid training myself, I would have done the same thing. ?But when it?s your child, your own flesh and blood it?s different; if I had tried and it hadn?t worked I don?t know what I would have done. ?That man definitely saved his life. ?I said to the man you must be an angel, and he just replied ? ?there?s a few of us about? ? and with that he got in his van and just drove off before I could say anything else.? ?We just want to thank him personally and Hector wants to write him a letter expressing his gratitute. Keen sportsman Hector is a member of the Kelly College U14s hockey and rugby teams. Jacci added: ?Without his help the situation could have been so different. ?It is the closest I have been to something that could have been so tragic and it was so good that someone stepped in just when you needed them.? ?For the past two weeks now everytime I see a white van I keeping thinking, is that the one whose driver saved my son??
