Cornish Guardian East Cornwall Premier League Cup Quarter Ffinal Saltash United 3 Callington Town 0 THE young guns of Kimberley Stadium knocked the holders out of the league cup, but not before the visitors gave enough notice that, with some better finishing, they could be a match for most sides. An even opening was ended when Dennis Mason broke the deadlock for United and a defensive error gave them a second just after the break when Mason scored. Callington laid siege to the Saltash goal for a period of 20 minutes but the home side held firm and late on they broke clear and Gareth Jones added the third goal. Cornwall U18 Cup Callington Colts 4 Launceston 2 CALLINGTON produced an excellent second half comeback to defeat a highly fancied Launceston that was much stronger than the original side which drew 1-1 with 9 man Callington last week. Callington Colts team were up for the game from the start and could have taken the lead themselves before being hit by a double strike from Matthew Brooks to give Launceston a two goal half time lead. The second period was a totally different package as Callington attacked with renewed vigour. Substitute Ian Rooke was first to strike and within five minutes Jarryd Kelly had squared matters. Better was to follow for the home side as, with 10 minutes left, Nathan Dore coolly chipped the Launceston keeper before Stefan Kelly added a fourth from the penalty box after a Colts player appeared to be stamped on by a defender who received his marching orders from the referee.
