SUPPORTED by the Finnish Embassy, the Wharf Gallery hosts the first ever exhibition of paintings, drawings and mixed media works by the Artists' Group of Hameenlinna. Ranging from the abstract to landscapes, animal paintings and still lifes, there is something for all tastes in this exciting exhibition.

It will be opened by Anne-Maria Liukko, Cultural Attaché to the Embassy of Finland, on Sunday , June 30 at 2pm attended by invited guests from throughout the region. The exhibition runs until the end of July.

The active group has also exhibited in Celle, Germany, which is twinned with Hameenlinna. Tavistock has, of course, been twinned with Celle for many years. The Tavistock Group of Artists has exchanged art exhibitions with Celle for over 40 years, and many friendships have been forged. The Tavistock Group of Artists exhibits in Tavistock Town Hall for two weeks from tomorrow (Friday).

The Celle BBK will exhibit at the Wharf this time next year — further cementing the historic links between the two towns. Hopefully, this exhibition will encourage further artistic contacts between Finland, Germany and England.
