Bedford Chairman?s Cup
Calstock 2
Buckland Monochorum 1
Calstock triumphed in the cup on Sunday, and in doing so won their first trophy in 16 years and their first under the influential management of Ian Cook.
In a close first half, Calstock thought they had taken the lead through a goal by Barry Hemmett, but it was disallowed for offside.
Calstock broke the deadlock as man of the match Ben Attwell scored a fantastic goal to take them into the lead.
Buckland came back into the game later on in the half, but excellent defending from Garry Collins, Gareth Edmunds and Adam Baker prevented them from scoring.
Garry Dunne kept Calstock in the lead with some superb goalkeeping
The second half continued as the first with Calstock in fine form with Alan Elliott tormenting the wing, Nick Tilbury always looking sharp and Jon Tilbury commanding the midfield.
Calstock?s second goal came through Garry Underwood after an excellent run as he coolly thrashed home to give the side a two-goal advantage.
In a tense finish Buckland never gave in ? they scored but it turned out only to be a consolation goal.
Both sets of fans created a great atmosphere in this exciting cup final.
