Tavistock AFC U18s 3

Milbrook U18 2

TAVISTOCK completed what can only be described as an excellent season with a win against a much fancied Millbrook team.

Tavistock played some great attacking football and richly deserved their win although Millbrook did cause the home team some problems at the back.

Tavistock started very much in the ascendency and within the first 15 minutes went 1-0 up from a long ball, latched on to by Conor Ayres, who drove through the heart of the Millbrook defence to finish in style past the onrushing keeper.

The pressure from Tavistock reaped dividends when Ben Pridham's charge down on the keeper ricoched into the net to make the score 2-0.

This was the spur Millbrook needed and with Tavy easing off a little. The away side grabbed their first thanks to a lack of pressure and commitment in the middle.

From then on the game was end to end and full action.

Still in the first half Tavistock gained a corner which came out to Andre Rodukov on the penalty spot and he took a magnificent shot to give Tavistock a 3-1 lead.

Again this did not last for long and Millbrook yet again scored due to some home team deficiencies in the challenge.

The second half continued with both teams attacking at every opportunity but with neither able to increase their scores and in a game that could have gone either way, Tavistock earned a great victory.

Tavistock have now lost only one of their last fourteen games in a fantastic end to a season which will need to be built upon next year.

The seasons stats are played 20, won 12, drawn three and lost five in a league where the majority of players are still available next year.  Congratulations lads!

Thanks go to the team's sponsors The Market Tavern and RDL Auto Supplies for all they have given this year.
