FROM the kick off Tavistock pushed the home defence back in to their own 22 and it soon became evident the forwards had the upper hand in the scrum.

After a couple of breaks for the line were repulsed, the home team broke up the field for the opening score.

A long kick and chase by the Barnstaple backs was superbly dealt with by full back Rufus Gould.

Tavistock finally made the breakthrough following a period of sustained pressure when Joe Hair took a five metre tap penalty and drove to the line and from the subsequent ruck Jack Lindsey went over to score.

The home side hit back with their second try following a penalty which was worked across the pitch to touch down in the corner.

A series of probing runs by Mark Friend and Jack Lindsey came to nothing and the home side closed out the first half by converting a penalty.

The second half saw Barnstaple run in another try following a lineout. A five metre scrum saw Tom Rickard held up on the line and driving runs for the line by Dan Oner and Niall Murphy were also held up.

Tavistock finally got their second try following another tap penalty with front row Bob Finbow driving over.

Barnstaple wrapped up the game with a drive over the line following a penalty.
