Devon Plate Cup Tavistock RFC U15s 0 Exeter Chiefs U15s 3 THE strong winds made long passing and kicking in this cup match difficult and only one score separated the sides at the final whistle. Chiefs put pressure on the home team's line straight from the kick off but sterling defence kept the visitors at bay. The home side only managed to break out occasionally and their handling let them down at the crucial time. Possession was being wasted by both teams and although Chiefs were dominating in the scrums, Josh Leeson and Robin Jones were winning a lot of lineout ball for Tavistock but the backs could not capitalise on it. Chiefs had the majority of the ball but their handling let them down and Tavistock held them up several times on their own try line. The second half was much the same as the first but breaks by Tom Thursby, Mark Friend and Niall Murphy came to nothing. After a period of sustained pressure on the Tavistock line the home side conceded a penalty in front of the posts which the visitors put over. Although the home side put up a tremendous defensive performance, and kept their discipline, their failure to retain the ball at the crucial time let them down.
