YELVERTON U15s finished their league season off in fine style with a 92 victory over Tideford U15s.
Batting first, Yelverton lost Will Johnson early on for seven with the score on 31 but this proved to be the last wicket to fall in their innings as David Ackford and Henry Lopes put on an unbroken second wicket partnership of 146 as the team posted 177 - 1 off their 20 overs. Ackford was unbeaten on 80 and Lopes on 70 when the innings closed.
Tideford U15s could only muster 85 all out in reply, with the wickets being shared around as all 10 fielders bowled. Ackford 2-6, Emily Adams 2-4, Matt Adams 1-6, Ben Pearson 1-5 & Tom Bedford 1-3 were the most successful bowlers.
This win capped off a fine season for the U15s and secured the league runners-up spot for the team, finishing two points behind champions Cornwood Dels. The team's overall league playing record was played nine, won seven, lost one and abandoned one.
Despite beating the eventual league champions, one of their games was abandoned just seven overs from the end and despite being on course for their eigth win, saw them drop two points. The team also reached the cup semi-final losing out in a close game to Lewdown U15's.
Many of the team have already played senior cricket and are starting to establish themselves in the senior squads.
