TWO places are left on a training course for advisers for West Devon Citizens Advice Bureau in Okehampton. The Tavistock Bureau is currently at full capacity for trainees, but in Okehampton there is a shortage. The course lasts for about six months before an adviser actually gets to see any clients, so by starting now a new trainee can expect to be on the rota by the summer. Mandy Kenyon, development officer for the charity, said: 'Some of our project funding will be ending in March, so we are planning for the future by ensuring we have enough volunteer advisers to keep services going, when and where they are needed.' The CAB course will start in the first week of February but interviews and a selection process need to be carried out beforehand, so applicants are advised to get in touch as soon as possible. 'No experience is necessary, just a basic level of literacy and numeracy, common-sense and the time to commit to regular duties,' added Mrs Kenyon.
