HAVING come down from the South West Premier division, Falmouth have proved their worth on a number of occasions this season by comfortably beating teams despite fielding less than eleven players.

However, this impressive feat seems to be catching up with them, as Callington became the second side to beat their depleted team. As expected though, Callington were made to work hard for the three points. The away side took the lead on 15 minutes when a through ball from midfielder Jodie Shipton was calmly dispatched by Town forward Sasha Cameron. This was to be Shipton's last involvement in the game as she limped off with a hamstring injury.

Despite being a couple of bodies down, Falmouth still looked very dangerous on the break and Town keeper Sara Rowe had to remain vigilant at all times. The second half saw Callington begin to assert more authority as the home side naturally began to tire.

Some good pressure on the Falmouth goal saw both Kayleigh Dawe fire narrowly over the cross-bar and Ann Fisher had a powerful header cleared off the line by a Falmouth defender.

On the hour mark Callington got the crucial second goal when Sam Veal played in Cameron who once again finished well to grab her second goal of the game. Callington also had to finish the game with less than eleven players on the pitch when they lost Veal due to a knee injury. With the teams now more evenly balanced, Callington had the odd anxious moment but Sara Rowe pulled off a wonder save to maintain a clean sheet and seal an impressive victory for Callington.

After the game Callington manager Adam McPherson said: 'Two wins and two clean sheets in a row is always something we are going to be pleased with at this level.

'We did have to work hard though as Falmouth are a formidable side and it was important that we made the most of their current squad situation. Hopefully this win will add to the confidence of the players and we can continue our steady improvement.'

THREE goals a piece in each half saw Callington record their second victory of the season in impressive style. The visitors got off to a flying start when winger Sam Veal picked out Sasha Cameron, who made no mistake with her finish from just inside the penalty area. Callington then grew in confidence and the second goal was straight out of the top drawer.

A twelve pass move starting from Town keeper Sara Rowe ended with right midfielder Kate Bourn firing a pin-point cross to the unmarked Anneliese Noakes who volleyed first time into the far corner of the net. The away side could have quickly added a third soon after but Katy Sheffield's long range effort cannoned off the cross-bar. Ten minutes before the break the third goal did arrive, when a Sheffield corner was met by Bourn from only a couple of yards out.

An equally dominant Callington came out in the second half, creating numerous attacking moves starting from the back.

Leading by example Town captain and player of match, Marie Wilson kept pushing the team forward. Then ten minutes into the second half Veal once again played the telling pass into the path of a teammate. But this time Sheffield fired her 25 yard strike under the cross-bar and into the net.

With the game seemingly won there was still time for Town substitute Sarah Martin to come on with 20 minutes remaining and grab two instinctive striker's goals.
