HATHERLEIGH celebrated a quarter of a century of its French connection with its twin town of Ballots.
Eighteen visitors from Ballots travelled to Hatherleigh earlier this year to join in the celebrations.
On Friday evening a small reception was given by the Mayor Mrs Herrod-Taylor and town council to welcome everyone and this was also attended by three of the original people who helped arrange the twinning between the two towns.
The twinning committee was happy to welcome Mrs Norma Hymes as she was the chairman of the council at that time.
On a Saturday, after various activities everyone met for a buffet supper at the Bowling Club, where a celebration cake was cut by Mme Nicole Gemin and Mrs Hymes.
On the Sunday, a coach trip to Plymouth taking in the Marine Aquarium had been arranged and was greatly enjoyed by all.
