FAMILY and friends can spend the day at Lydford Gorge this Sunday, making Anglo Saxon-style pots and jewellery.
The village of Lydford dates back to Saxon times, with the Saxons fortifying the town by building large banks around it, which can still be seen today.
The gorge provided steep natural defences to any invaders.
As well as enjoying a beautiful but vigorous walk through breathtaking scenery, families will be able to join the hands-on activities in the orchard.
Children will be able to make a thumb pot using air dry clay and decorate it with traditional Anglo Saxon stamps and natural materials.
Children will also be able to create a replica Anglo Saxon-style brooch, using craft materials.
Brooches in Saxon times would have been used to fasten dresses, tunics, gowns and cloaks. They were decorated for many reasons; to demonstrate how wealthy or important they were, or possibly for social, religious, magical or mythical reasons.
Families will also be able to have a go at solving some Anglo Saxon riddles in the orchard.
The activities, which will run between noon and 4pm, cost £2 per child and are suitable for ages 4 and upwards.
Participants are advised to wear old clothing.
