Tavistock 3

Bodmin 0

THREE games into the season and things are still going well for Tavistock men's hockey club.

This was by far the best performance from them this season, with a welcome return of the old 'networking' method of play.

Tavistock moved the ball around with great confidence and restricted Bodmin from getting any worthwhile possession.

The early pressure eventually paid dividends when Jason Lovett scored an excellent goal from a narrow angle.

If anything Tavistock seemed to be over complicating issues in front of the Bodmin goal and before the interval missed two virtually open opportunities.

Bodmin, knowing they were only one goal behind and with everything to play for, came at the home side from the restart and were unfortunate not to equalise after a flick hit the post and shot across the face of the goal much to the disappointment of the celebrating Bodmin.

Tavistock pulled their game back together and responded immediately with a good strike by Mark Turner putting the score to a more respectable level.

With Tavistock more composed they continued to move the ball around the pitch at leisure and the relentless pessure resulted in another well deserved goal from a good hard shot from Carl Jefferys.

Tavistock travel to Truro this weekend and can expect tougher opposition but if they continue to play with the same commitment and confidence, can look forward to a positive result.
