AN APPLICATION for a polytunnel for Chagford's Proper Job has been recommended to Dartmoor National Park Authority for refusal because it would have a detrimental visual impact on the park, say planning officers.

Community co-operative Proper Job want to change part of the existing Market Field to provide an additional area for cultivating crops and as a demonstration area for home composting.

The proposal includes the relocation of a 32m x 7.5m polytunnel from the adjoining industrial site to a corner of the Market Field. At a site inspection DNP members considered that the benefits to be gained from the proposed change of use of the land would outweigh the detrimental visual impact but planning officers were not of the same view.

They will ask members to consider another site or a smaller tunnel when the plans come before the authority tomorrow (Friday.)
