On Saturday Tug - of - War returned to the village of Princetown after a break of 12 years. The new village team was resurrected last year by Jonny Neal, and has already made enough significant progress in the sport to merit running its first competition for many a year. Princetown had already enjoyed success two weeks earlier when they won at the Devon County Show. Five teams took to the field and all competitions were fiercely fought with Mary Tavy coming out tops, Wimple and Broadclyst were worthy runners up, and last but not least ? and most importantly ? all the teams who took part and the spectators who turned up to cheer and support enjoyed a great day. Andy Welsh, the secretary of Princetown TOW told the Times: ?Roll on next year, it can only get better.?
