CHAGFORD will be hit by Christmas fever next Tuesday, with the town's late-night shopping evening.

The streets will be lit up by lights and more than 50 decorated Christmas trees on the town's shops. Entertainment starts from 6pm, with an array of festive merriment filling the streets.

Father Christmas will be on the streets to greet children, with the Globe Inn having a huge display of Santas in the pub. If you can correctly guess how many there are in the display, you can win yourself a special Christmas prize. All shoppers will also receive a free ticket into a cash prize draw.

As well as being lit up the streets will be full of music, with the school band performing carols, along with gospel singers and drummers.

Stilt walkers and morris dancers will wander the streets to entertain shoppers, and in the square children can climb into a fire engine.

Those who build up an appetite while shopping can enjoy a hog roast by butcher Andy Martin, purchase hot chestnuts or pop into one of the food shops for a seasonal treat. The Moorland Dairy sells luxury clotted cream and food gift baskets, Blacks Delicatessen will be full of seasonal foods and wine merchant Best Cellars will have plenty of drink ideas for Christmas.

After a busy shopping session, the fun will continue in the town's pubs with refreshments and the chance to relax in front of an open fire.
