THE news item in last week?s edition of the Times reported that the local parish church is to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland on March 17 and clearly ignore the occasion of our own patron saint on April 23 as they chose some South American event for that month, which is unfortunate.
All, though, is not lost because St George?s Day will be celebrated in the town with a proper English breakfast by 50 to 60 stalwarts at the Plume of Feathers in Fore Street from 8am.
The emphasis is on local food when as much as possible is sourced from producers in the area, which is well known for its quality.
You may book a table or just come along and start the day with a well-cooked meal which for many has in the past provided enough sustenance to last the remainder of the day.
Bookings can be made either by calling into the Plume itself, or telephone Okehampton 53158. Either way make a particular note to observe our Patron Saint?s Day.
