THE Triangle Centre in Tavistock is combining with funding support from the Tavistock 5X30 project and starting Tai Chi classes with emphasis on breathing and relaxation techniques. The Triangle Centre was created to support people with cancer, their families and carers locally. A healthcare venture, it brings together the expertise of professionals in cancer care so that support and information can be offered at any stage of the illness. It is a drop-in centre based at the Tavistock Clinic, in Plymouth Road and runs from 10am to 4pm on Fridays. The centre is staffed by nurses and trained volunteers and offers complementary therapies. There is access to benefits advice and mutual support and advice from other patients and their families. The centre held a ?taster? tai chi session and due to its great success it was decided to apply for start-up funding support from the 5X30 project. This funding has been matched by funds raised by a relative who ran the London Marathon this year. The project promotes physical activity of at least 30 minutes? moderate exercise five times a week to promote good physical and mental health. The classes will be held at Kingdon House studio from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on Fridays, starting on November 2. If you would like to attend, contact Debbie Clift at the Triangle Centre on Fridays on 01822 615935.
