TAVISTOCK Area Support Services (TASS) is offering taster sessions in various activities in a bid to keep people active for longer.
With support from Well UK, an association that aims to create healthy communities and build partnerships between communities and organisations in the South West, TASS is offering three 10-week taster sessions in yoga, badminton and table tennis for the people of Princetown.
Andy Lyle, manager of TASS, said: 'This is a wonderful opportunity for the older people in Princetown to receive quality coaching and instructing from three people qualified to deliver such activities. The new village hall has a lot to offer the people of the area, and with support from Well UK it will help to keep people active for longer.'
The sessions started this week and will continue for the next 10 weeks, with yoga on Mondays, 3.30pm to 4.30pm taught by Kathryn Blackie from Do It With Yoga, badminton on Wednesdays 10.30am to 11.30am with badminton England coach Tom Lyle, and table tennis also on Wednesdays 11am to noon with qualified table tennis coach Lorraine Robinson. The sessions will take place at Princetown Village Centre.
Mr Lyle hopes that if the 10-week period proves to be a success then the sessions will continue.
Well UK is also supporting TASS to deliver a 10-week yoga taster session at the Anchorage Centre in Tavistock, on Mondays at 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
