AUDITIONS for Tavonians Theatre Company's December production are soon to begin for anyone who is interested in joining the cast or backstage crew.

CS Lewis' adventure story 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' is Tavonians' chosen production.

The story is about four children during war-torn England who accidentally enter Narnia, the land of talking animals, by climbing through a magic wardrobe, defeating the White Witch and returning the great Lion King Aslan to his throne.

The parts of the four children will be played by young adults, other characters being a Professor who takes the children into his home, his housekeeper, the White Witch, Aslan the Lion, Mr Tumnus a fawn, Mr and Mrs Beaver, a wolf, a dwarf, a giant, and — as this is essentially a festive play — Father Christmas. There will also be other animals which could be played by children.

Steph Reese, who will be directing 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' for The Tavonians said: 'We hope to have a lot of children and perhaps some adults being the animals, so there are parts for a lot more than just the main characters.'

The auditions will be on Tuesday, August 4 and Monday, August 10 at 7.30pm, in the function room of the Ordulph Arms in Tavistock.

Rehearsals start in early September and performances will be at The Wharf at the beginning of December.
