THE Robey Trust of Tavistock is opening its premises, the New Perseverance Ironworks, for free viewing of its range of road and stationary engines next month.

The engines were manufactured by Robey & Co, of Lincoln during its existence from 1854 until 1988. Robey was the manufacturer of the steam roller 'Stumbles', which was in Tavistock's Meadows for children – and parents – to play on for many years and which was the Trust's first acquisition.

The open days will be held on September 12 and 13. Access to the New Perseverance Ironworks is across the newly surfaced carpark area at the higher end of Pixon Lane, Tavistock, where free parking is available. Viewing will be from 11am to 4pm each day.
