WHITCHURCH Wayfarers recently held their presentation night.
Top of the awards was Darren Chappell, who had a fine season with the bat in the Devon League. He scored 463 runs at an average of 46.30, including four 50s, three of them consecutively.
The Devon League bowler of the year was Neil Tamblin, the spinner taking 24 wickets at 12.38 apiece, thanks largely to the league's best figures of 8 for 16 at Okehampton.
The Tamar League batting prize was a close run contest. Bill Tynan snatched the award with an average of 22.12, narrowly pipping Alan Pedrick.
The bowling prize was more one sided, Kit Reeve once again taking the honours with 33 wickets at an average of 10.39, including two five wicket hauls and 6 for 7 at Brentor.
A new award this year went to the most improved player. The recipient was Tom Harding, whose all round bowling and batting technique and performance, together with greater confidence helped him become a regular in the Tamar league side.
The most prestigious award for clubman of the year went to Chris Meadows for the quality and quantity of the work he has put into the new pavilion organisation.
Whitchurch hold their annual meeting at the Village Hall, Church Hill on Thursday December 7. All playing members, vice-presidents, colts and their parents are invited to attend.
