TAVISTOCK Football Club held its annual presentation and dinner at the Astor Hotel in Plymouth writes Club Secretary Eric Pinch. Guests of Honour at the event on Saturday, June 11 were the Sheffield United and former Plymouth Argyle manager Neil Warnock, Tavistock?s Club President and MP for West Devon and Torridge Geoffrey Cox and their respective wives Sharon and Jeannie. More than 75 guests heard Acting Chair Derek Pethick speak of a difficult season for the Carlsberg side with them finishing just above the bottom two to avoid having to seek re election to the league. On a more positive note they were congratulated on winning the Bedford Cup for the first time in a decade. The Plymouth and West Devon team finished in 7th position in the Intermediate League and won their respective division Cup the prestigious Challenge Bowl. The Vets also won their league cup and it was good to see Tavistock Ladies in attendance to receive their awards from Mr Warnock. Presentations: Tavistock Ladies Manager?s Player of the Year, Donna Hone; Most Improved, Louise Galway; Players? Player, Donna Hone. The following ladies each received a medal: Candy Capeling, Louise Galway, Monika Les, Laura Philip, Becci Allen, Laura Corrales, Captain Donna Hone, Kirsty Jones, Sam Payne, Michelle Stubbs, Kate Atkinson and Rhianne Parsons. Flowers were presented to Ladies? Manager Aileen Ishmael from the team. Mr Warnock also presented the following: Under 18s leading Goal Scorer Lee Houlds; Plymouth & West Devon Leading Goal Scorer Kevin Blatchford; Carlsberg South Western League Leading Scorer Will Westlake; The Ron Bowman Trophy for service to the Club Roger Gray; The Chairman?s Player of the Year James Steer; The Young Player of the Year Chris Hamilton; Devon Junior Minor Player of the Year Ben Palmer; Plymouth and West Devon Player of the Year Kevin Blatchford. The Alf Seeley Memorial Award, Alan Yendall; For his services to the club, a special award to retired physio Les Mewton; for 30 years service to the Club. Life membership of Tavistock Football and the Red & Black Clubs, Ken Wood. Carlsberg South Western League Player of the Year, Andy Meeds. President Mr Cox presented the following: The Veterans League Cup to Les Mewton; The Plymouth and West Devon Intermediate Challenge Bowl, Manager Paul Blatchford. The Bedford Cup: Joint Managers Craig Smith and Ian Southcott. Mr Cox also donated a new President?s Cup for the Club person of the year. Craig Smith received the Cup for his services to both the Football and the Red and Black Clubs. Flowers were presented by Sheila Fenner, wife of the late Chairman Robin, to Sharon Warnock and Jeannie Cox.
