Tavistock 2

Truro A 0

A WORKMANLIKE 2-0 victory over Truro this weekend placed Tavistock equal second on points in South West division one.

Undeterred by torrential rain, Tavistock opened keenly, harrying the heavily-manned Truro defence with a neat fretwork of passing.

They applied fierce pressure to the Truro goal but their finishing was woeful.

Finally, a death-or-glory charge into the 'D' enabled Carl Jeffrey to sweep a rebound past a keeper still somewhat dazed by the first blistering reverse-stick shot.

Tavistock then proceeded to go off the boil, leaving the ever-reliable Rodda, Lethbridge and Costello back three to soak up Truro attacks.

Neil Bradley in the nets saw rather more of the ball than he would have liked.

Heavy weather was made of working the ball forward and passing became increasingly inconsistent as the second half wore on.

Jeffrey came to the rescue again, pouncing hound-like onto a loose ball which he fired into the bottom right of the goal.

Man of the match was Ricky Ballard who spear-headed half a dozen dangerous attacks up the right with a potent cocktail of strong dribbling, well-timed tackles and accurate passes.

Next match: Plymouth University away.
