ONE of the organisers of the Dartmoor Tinworking Research Group has praised fellow members for its conservation work in 2006 at Brimpts Farm at Dartmeet. Anne Whitbourn said a huge amount of work clearing vegetation from South Mine area sites, as well as the North Mine, had been carried out. 'Much was achieved on the three work days earlier in the year, as well as erecting guide posts and signs around the trail,' said Ms Whitbourn. 'Our stand and tours of the trails were enjoyed at the open day in April. I am hoping we can do more of these in future. 'In November we had an excellent day, with one group working on the launder, and another rediscovering the 'Lost steps of Brimpts'. 'I am told that our work has been highly praised by English Heritage, as well as at Brimpts!' The group have arranged three more working days at Brimpts Farm: Saturday, January 27, the repair of launder/clearing lower dressing floor; Monday, February 12 plantation, clearance and dressing floor; and Friday, March 30 at North Mine, light vegetation clearance, drains and installation of information panels. Anyone wishing to join the group should contact Anne Whitbourn on 01752 696257.
