A HATHERLEIGH horse rider picked up a bronze award after almost eight hours in the saddle last weekend at an endurance riding event on Exmoor.

Trena Brock with horse Torzack Ibn Chadwick ? an eight-year-old Arab gelding ? took the bronze award in the 50-mile endurance ride at the Golden Horseshoe event which took place near Dunster on Exmoor on Sunday.

Trena is an experienced rider, but this was the first time she had tackled the Exmoor endurance ride, which is one of the most challenging long-distance rides on the calendar, and attracts riders from across the country.

Trena?s horse is only in his second season, but the pair covered the course in 7 hours and 56 minutes. She was one of only 13 riders to finish the course from a field of 25.

Trena hopes next to compete at a series of race rides in the Cotswolds.
