THREE young men from the Calstock area have taken part in a challenging kayak and cliff path expedition in aid of the Help for Heroes charity.
Paul Calbert, Ollie Taylor and team leader Christopher Drew began kayaking from Mullion near the Lizard, but were unable to complete the trip by kayaking due to bad weather conditions.
Christopher, 20, said: 'The mental strain of 4am starts to catch the right tide were very hard and we also suffered some injuries along with bad weather.'
Christopher went on to complete the challenge alone through walking the cliff paths from St Ives to Hartland Point but later decided to move onto nearby roads as a way of raising more donations.
'As soon as I began walking on the roads I was getting donations of £60 to £70 a day.'
The three men who all plan on joining the forces soon, raised more than £1,000 for Help for Heroes and kept in touch through a tracker that sent a live feed to the team's blog and Facebook.
