TRAVEL photographer Tommy Hatwell has had an image selected for a major international exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

The image ‘Night School’ was created in Uganda earlier this yearand is one of 59 images chosen from 5,717 submissions entered by 2,423 photographers from 66 different countries to be part of the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize.

The competition celebrates and promotes the best in contemporary portrait photography.

Tommy, from Milton Abbot, said: ‘I’m excited that my work has been recognised at such a high level and I am really grateful to have shared the moment with Mawazi, Hajara, Braimu, Aramazan, Rahumani, Umaru, Haruniah, Media and David and look forward to to seeing them again in January.’

The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2017 exhibition will run at the National Portrait Gallery from Thursday, November 16 to February 8, 2018.

It will then tour venues around the UK.
