FIREFIGHTERS from Tavistock were called to rescue a woman trapped in her car at Long Cross, near Lamerton, last Friday morning.

The woman, who suffered head and internal injuries in the two-car crash, had to be cut from her car and airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

Two fire appliances, police and ambulance crews attended the crash, which happened at about 9.30am.

Tavistock fire chief Chris Neale said it took firefighters around 45 minutes to free the woman.

The road was closed to traffic for about two hours.
