THE Okehampton and District Community Transport Group is on the lookout for members of the community to become trustees.

The organisation has been serving clients in Okehampton and the surrounding area for 25 years, run by a small team of staff and trustees.

Sue Wonnacott, transport co-ordinator, said: 'We are hoping to recruit some new trustees to our group to enhance the skills we have available and replace those who have left due to personal reasons.

'If you or someone in your organisation would be willing to spare some time to help us — around four meetings per year — then we would love to hear from you.'

The group is a community-led scheme supported by Devon County Council and West Devon Borough Council to provide transport for the local rural community and for people who find it physically difficult to use conventional public transport, the frail elderly, and those who are rurally isolated.

The group provides transport to hospital and medical appointments, and social visits. As well as the bus they offer a community car service and a ring and ride service, with specialised wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
