THE long running Meavy Oak Fair returned last Saturday with a host of activities for the family.

A display of Maypole dancing from Meavy Primary School was enjoyed by audiences and a range of traditional fair games kept the crowds occupied throughout the afternoon.

The popular Burrator Horseshoe run was also celebrated with nearly 200 people taking part.

Local Morris Dancing side Dartmoor Border Morris was on hand to perform to audiences, along with entertainment for younger fairgoers in the form of Butterfingers — the lady clown!

The family dog show returned again this year with a range of awards up for grabs — from best dog handler to waggiest tail.

All profits from the fair will be given back to local organisations.

Beneficiaries included the Friends of St Peter's Church, Meavy School, Meavy Parish Hall, Sheepstor Village Hall, West Devon Explorer Scouts, Horrabridge Rangers Football Club, Walkham Valley Scouts, Meavy Garden Society and Meavy Preschool who all helped out at the fair.
