TOYS have been distributed to disadvantaged families in the Tavistock area after an appeal by the Salvation Army in conjunction with ITV?s This Morning programme.

For the past five years the local branch has been collecting toys at Christmas and this year Superdrug offered storage facilities for the hundreds of gifts offered.

Major Joyce Holmes of the Tavistock Corps said she was grateful for the excellent response.

?We are sure that the toys would have made a real difference to those families in special need.?

She also expressed thanks to the Rev Roger Cornish who collected and stored toys at the United Reformed Church in Tavistock. They were distributed through local health centres and Social Services.
