TAVISTOCK'S Salvation Army has launched its successful toy appeal in order to provide gifts for children whose families cannot afford Christmas presents.
The Salvation Army would like to provide toys for Christmas to children whose families cannot afford to give them very much.
Major Dawn McGarvey said: 'Through my involvement with the Foodbank I know that many families are struggling week by week and the extra expense of Christmas is overwhelming.'
To help, St Eustachius' Church in Tavistock is holding a toy service on Sunday, November 30 at 9.45am. New unwrapped toys are sought, but second hand and cuddly toys cannot be accepted.
Last year the Salvation Army was able to provide toys for 91 children. It is partnering up with Kaleidoscope Toys, Brook Street. The shop will hold a list of suggested toys.
Monetary donations can be sent to 'The Salvation Army', 3 Town Mill Gardens, Tavistock, PL190JG.
