THE SAMARITANS of Exeter, Mid and East Devon have expressed thanks to the people of Chagford and Okehampton for their generosity during the recent street collections.
In Chagford £107 was raised, and £172 was collected in Okehampton.
The donations will help the Samaritans to continue to give their 24 hours a day, 365 days a year availability to those who may be suffering a crisis in their lives and who even may be suicidal.
The Exeter branch of The Samaritans has more than 100 volunteers who man a rota and are available to answer the telephone or to receive personal callers. There are also volunteers who help with fundraising and other non-listening duties.
