TAVISTOCK's Max Laithwaite, who has been walking more than 1,000 miles around the UK since June 21 to raise awareness of World Peace Day, reaches London tomorrow (Friday).

He has been walking without money, relying on the kindness of strangers for food and shelter, and his journey finishes at the capital's Wembley Arena for the Peace One Day concert.

The Peace One Day organisation was founded by Jeremy Gilley and was responsible for making September 21 International Peace Day throughout the United Nations.

Supporters of Max will be gathering in Tavistock's Bedford Square on Saturday, September 22, at 7pm where they will welcome him home.

Kate Royston, of Transition Tavistock, said: 'Max has put so much effort into this, there are a lot of people who have supported him and who want to show solidarity for what he has been doing.'

All are welcome to attend.
