Wadebridge U14s 26pts Tavistock U14s 36pts FROM the start the conditions dictated the play and Wadebridge, unable to gather the kick, allowed the eager Tavistock forwards to drive on. Good passing and support play enabled Tavistock's Tom Simmons to pick up and dive over the line for the opening score. From the restart Wadebridge took the play deep into the Tavistock half but from a ruck the visitors moved the ball along their back line and flanker Tom Rickard raced through the home defence to score under the posts. Josh Leeson converted the try. Strong Tavistock tackling penned Wadebridge inside their own half. Good play by the visitors gave Rickard space again and only a trip tackle prevented him from scoring. Leeson converted the penalty try. With Tavistock now in complete control Rickard again ran from half way to score his second try, which Leeson converted. Tavistock's Sam Lindsey wrapped up the half, racing down the short side to score an opportunist try. With Tavistock bringing on their replacements, the second half was always going to be challenging. With the slope and an ever strengthening wind behind them, Wadebridge tore into Tavistock from the start and scored a good try wide on the left. Further pressure resulted in Wadebridge scoring a converted try following a line out. Tavistock, in a rare raid into the Wadebridge half, moved the ball wide and Dan Oner ran in to touch down. Wadebridge hit back and dominated play to the end scoring two more converted tries through their big pack but were unable to overhaul Tavistock whose defence was outstanding on the day. A hard fought sporting game played in an excellent spirit.
