Tavistock girls U14s 1
Looe girls U14s 0
THIS was potentially Tavistock's hardest game of the season against table toppers Looe Town.
Straight from the off Tavistock kept hold of the ball and were passing it around in the middle of the park. With the early advantage going in Tavistock's favour, there was yet nothing to show for it.
As the half developed newly appointed captain Heather Wright along with Jess Eales and Sophie Bould- Lynch were starting to offer more support to lone striker Jess Bould-Lynch, which resulted in more chances with Jess rattlling the crossbar with a long shot.
Looe came up against a solid defensive partnership of Bethany Alford and Beth Lamerton, who swiftly dealt with and cleared from danger, while goalkeeper Autumn Miller started some good moves with her goal kicks.
Just before half-time Tavistock opened their account with a fine finish from striker Jess Bould-Lynch.
In the second half Ellie Oaten appeared in goal and made a number of quality saves for Tavistock. As ever Bethany Alford was leading the defence forward with replacement Kayleigh Gatcum who consistently made tackles. Just before the end the introduction of Lucy Trigger and Emily Quick made sure that Tavistock held on to the game and to win their first game.
The Devon girls never gave up after some miserable results and have bounced back impressively.
