Plymouth and West Devon Combination

Tavistock AFC thirds 0

Mainstone 8

FROM the start the AFC defence was put under pressure by league leaders Mainstone.

The Tavistock defence managed to hold out for 30 minutes before Mainstone scored a goal from a cross. A second quickly follow from another cross with a Mainstone striker heading in at the far post to make it 2-0 to the visitors at half time.

In the second half Tavistock where unable to maintain the discipline they had shown in the first half and the shear physical effort required to stop a rampant Mainstone attack waned as the game went on.

Tyler Borthwick, aged 16, at left back and Ed Argyles at right back had impressive game putting in several good challenges and never giving up. The Gibbings brothers Dave and Mark both did well in protecting the back four especially in the first half with James Young, aged 16, having a good game on the left of midfield.

Mainstone ran out comfortable winners in the end but having played the hardest team to beat in the league Tavistock are hoping to go forward after this game.
