Jewson South Western League
Porthleven 6
Callington Town 0
CALLINGTON dominated the first half of this encounter. As early as the second minute, Kevin Russell shot just wide of the post after being set up by Gary Smith.
Andy Treble shot narrowly wide again having been put through by Smith on 10 minutes.
Smith was subbed two minutes later, with Matt Martin replacing him, after picking up a leg injury.
Porthleven came back into the game. Ian Rowe shot over Wayne Wormald's goal on 15 minutes but soon Callington were back on top. Gary Williams set up chances, but these were not taken and the half time whistle was greeted with sighs of relief by the home supporters.
Whatever happened at the interval certainly helped the home side as they came out in the second period like men possessed.
Andy Bowker broke the deadlock on 51 minutes, beating Wormald at the second attempt.
Twenty minutes into the half, Adrian Bleasdale added a second from the edge of the area and three minutes later the match was effectively over when Bowker grabbed his second and Porthleven's third. The home side, exploited Callington's gaps at the back towards the end and added three goals through Dean Britten and a brace from Danny Williams.
