FOLLOWING the successful carnival week, the Lions Club of Tavistock is staging another fundraising event in Bedford Square this coming Saturday, courtesy of Tavistock Town Council.

The 'Event in the Tent' will start at 10am and continue until around 1.30pm. It will feature a number of stalls, including good quality bric-a-brac, second hand books, a soft toy tombola, a raffle and a cake stall. The Lions would be delighted to receive any donations for the stalls so these should be brought to the square between 9.30am and 10am, with all the money raised during the day going to local good causes.

This week Lions have been carrying out practical work in the community. They have been at the Anchorage Centre in Tavistock with an engineer from Digital UK and TASS staff, helping to man the digital TV switchover advice point.

The advice point will be open again on September 9 and 10 from 10am to 4pm when the main switchover takes place. If anyone needs advice about receiving the new digital TV service, they should pop into the Anchorage Centre next to the Bus Station where the team will be able to assist them.
