AFTER last week's display Tavistock went into this game with one of the top teams in the league with a lot more heart and determination. While the pitch surface was good the wind made conditions far from ideal and spoilt what was to be a good footballing match.
Tavistock played the first half with the wind and found it difficult to make their passes pay as the wind took the ball away from the front players.
Activate were a very determined team who made many attacks on the Tavistock goal but the defence were up to the task and held them at bay until just before half time a bit of indecision in the Tavistock defence allowed Activate to pinch the ball and slot it home.
Tavistock continued to battle after the break and after some 10 minutes. were unlucky to have a penalty awarded against them from which Activate doubled their score.
Activate mastered the conditions better were able to nip in and flick the ball over the Tavistock's advancing goalie for their third.
Tavistock continued to fight hard both in attack and defence and gradually clawed themselves back into the goal when on 22 minutes. Robert Wearing smashed the ball into the net after a great run to score Tavistock's first and a minute later Nathan Alford scored our second. But another lapse of concentration in the defence let Activate in to score their fourth.
Tavistock had their chances to even the score but were unable to make the most of them.
This week the team play Activate on their home pitch at Eggbuckland College k.o.1.00pm. Both The Man of the Match and Managers Man of the Match went to Robert Wearing.
