DJM U15s Defiance

Tavistock Town U15s 3

Horrabridge Rangers U15s 2

HORRABRIDGE lost two players through serious injury in the warm-up and were one player short throughout the game.

However, it was Rangers who opened the scoring after 10 mins when Taylor Kinghams superb cross field ball was picked up by Josh Birch who cut inside to unleash thundering shot from 30 yards into the top corner.

Tavistock equalised five minutes later when Charlie Dawson scored from six yards. Horrabridge though continued to play good passing football with Kingham and Harry Eaton in particular dominating the midfield.

Rangers retook the lead when Max Burgess beat two defenders before seeing his shot well blocked but the ball fell to Birch who smashed home from 10 yards.

Tavistock levelled five minutes before half time when Billy Barribal headed home at the back post unmarked.

Tavistock dominated play for most of the second half and their man advantage was starting to tell but the Rangers' defence of Aaron Johnson, Will Glanville and Jack Northam and aided by the midfield trio of Birch, Kingham and Eaton were superb all game and kept the home side to just long range efforts.

Horrabridge created a few chances of the own later in the half but they were all comfortably dealt with by the Tavistock keeper.

With two minutes remaining Billy Barriball's pin point cross was volleyed home by Rowe to give Town the points and deny would have been a well deserved point for Horrabridge.
