Seconds 5
Biscovey 1
AFTER a great victory in the cup last week Tavistock AFC were back in league action against a good Biscovey FC side who were looking forward to playing at Langsford Park.
This was a reshuffled Tavistock side, with Dan Honey and Matt Allen starting, Southgate keeping his place up front and goalkeeper Rowe back in the team.
The Lambs seem to have got their spark and confidence back playing some attractive football with most moves leading to shots on the Biscovy FC goal.
It took only 10 minutes before Tavistock had the chance to score with a penalty; Southgate stepped up to only see it hit the woodwork.
However, only a few minutes later another penalty was awarded and captain Parnoski made no mistake and coolly passed it into the corner of the net.
Biscovey had few chances with great defending from Allen and Parnoski keeping them at bay.
Jay Martin menaced Biscovey's back four with great movement and passing; with Southgate he grabbed two quick goals — one he smashed in and the other acute lob gave the goalkeeper no chance to make it 3-0 to the Lambs at the break.
The second half was much the same with plenty of chances on goal — many landing to Cowling who just couldn't find the net.
Following a one-two pass in midfield by Aaron Rocky and Menhenick, the latter slipped Cowling down the wing whose precise pass to Southgate saw him hit home number four. Tavistock were now cruising; a great mazy run and cross from Harry Hardy from the wing fell to Ash Menhenick to kill the game off. Biscovey never gave up and got a consolation goal; a great 30 yard shot deceived goalkeeper Rowe to make it 5 -1.
Joint man of the match for Tavistock were Matt Allen and Mike Southgate.
Tavistock Seconds are now sitting pretty in fifth place and slowly creeping up on the league leaders.
