NATIONAL illustrator Quentin Blake invites readers to join in The Big Draw this Saturday (October 21) in Tavistock as part of a campaign to get people drawing. The Big Draw takes place across 1,000 venues in the UK offering people of all ages the chance to discover drawing. The campaign was inspired by the Victorian writer and visionary, John Ruskin. His mission was not to teach people to draw but how to see. There will be artists on hand to help, and for inspiration an exhibition of insects photographed, preserved and live. People will have the chance to expand the definitions and uses of drawing ? experimenting with pencils, crayons, charcoal, sand, clay, and digital imagery. This is the first of four events taking place in Tavistock. In March, the topic will be ?Frogs and Primroses?, in May, ?Birds and Wild Flowers? and in June/July, ?Moths and Butterflies?. Participants are invited to Tavistock Museum in Bedford Square on October 21 from 10am to 4pm.
