Callington Town . . . . . 3

Nanpean Rovers . . . . . 1

CALLINGTON recovered from an early setback to grab all three points against a new look Nanpean at Ginsters Marshfield Parc on Saturday.

The visitors ,who had lost eight of their nine matches in the league, included six new faces, although many of them were experienced former Rovers players brought out of retirement. They took the lead when the wind intervened to wrong-foot the Town keeper and Simon May?s speculative 35 -yard shot ended up in the far corner of the net.

Town battled back and equalised five minutes before the break when experienced striker Chris Truscott crossed from the right and teenager Pete Floyd was in like a rocket to fire the ball into the net.

With the wind at their backs in the second half, Callington began to dominate and took the lead on 70 minutes when new boy Luke Avis-Riordon capped a great performance with a sweet ball in from the right. Floyd was on hand to fire in his second after the keeper parried the ball out.

In the dying minutes, Tony Truscott fired home Callington?s third to complete the scoring and move his side 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
