YOUNG Devon's Young Carers project is the latest organisation to receive a boost from Okehampton Town Council's grant aid scheme.
Katherine Mullan from 'Young Devon — Young Carers' visited the council chamber last week to collect a cheque for £500 given to the organisation from the grant aid fund.
At the beginning of the last financial year, the council allocated £12,000 to be distributed between charities and organisations directly benefiting people living in Okehampton. Each grant has a cap of £500 to spread the money as widely and as fairly as possible.
Young Devon is a charity that challenges negative stereotypes of young people, secures young people's right to participate and be meaningfully involved in society and assists in them building life skills.
The Young Carers Project is designed to give young carers some free time where they can enjoy themselves and forget their responsibilities.
Grant aid application forms for local voluntary organisations or charities can be collected from the town hall.
