CALLINGTON Town's pre-season preparations made a major step forward on Saturday when Micky Hunt's team soundly beat a strong Totnes side in South Devon.

Hunt and his assistant Lee Beer have been working hard behind the scenes at the regular training sessions to create a squad capable of challenging for honours, and on this performance, they have moved well towards that goal.

Mike Norman got the scoring underway early in the first half and added a second as Town took full control. Just before the break Lee Blatchford crowned a good personal performance with a cracker of a goal effectively to end the resistance of the hosts.

In the second period, Callington kept up the pressure and Ryan Lucassi contributed to the fourth which will probably go down as an own goal off a defender before Dan Pethick fired home the fifth to seal an encouraging performance.

This Saturday they face their first home friendly as they welcome Holsworthy to Callington for a 3pm kick-off.
